Knowing our govt, I expect that was a complete waste of time, but probably made them feel better. There's no place in the world where masking resulted in slowing or halting covid cases. Your inferences from your office (a statistically insignificant sample of people that were not at risk) does not change any of this. Ian Miller documented this extensively.
Interesting book. I've read parts on Amazon. Remarkable stats he gives out. I can't give you a scientific answer. I would expect a lot had to do with how people wore the masks. People often didn't even cover their noses. At social events, masks probably also tended to be taken off. A friend of mine and his family got Covid at his daughter's wedding. My office is not the only successful example that I can give. My 96 year old mother was staying in the Sandringham Jewish Old Age home in Johannesburg. They ran a very tight ship, masking, distancing, vaccinating, and very isolated, unfortunately, as, in my mother's case, it led to a bad case of depression, which, I believe, ultimately killed her 2 years later. Probably about 250 residents. They lost one soul early on and 1 more that I can recall later on. They had a few alarm bells ringing along the way with infections creeping in, traced back to the daily commute of the health care workers. But they did very well, so much so that the local government made a study of their procedures to try implement them elsewhere. Knowing our govt, I expect that was a complete waste of time, but probably made them feel better. At the end of the day though, this was about the seriousness of the virus and the effectiveness of vaccines. Even if Miller is correct that vaccines did not stop the transmission of Covid, the reality is that the mortality rate dropped dramatically in those vaccinated as opposed to those not. Those stats are not hard to find.
How's this for a reading of the reality of what is currently unfolding in America? Trump has already been clamping down on freedoms. His main beef has been about undocumented immigrants. Enter ICE, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, who have been upsetting a lot of freedom loving citizens, with their heavy handedness. Similarly, he has deployed the National Guard to LA and threatened others, such as Chicago, with similar actions. He has bypassed Congress via funds empowerment, intervened in local jurisdictions such as New York, and so on, and so on. All the while, blaming "Sleepy" Joe Biden for being the bad guy. At the same time, the forces of anti-Semitism are gaining traction. A movement that started during Biden's time, presumably, they're all working as a team. Jew hate has now infected the right as well as the left to such an extent that the youth are now more inclined to Hamas than Israel. In all likelihood, as it now stands, no future POTUS candidate would dare offer visible support for Israel. Just to add a new spice into the pot, which, in all fairness, may have nothing to do with any direct action of POTUS Trump, there has been a shooting at a Mosque. That the Imam and his facility do not have squeaky clean records when it comes to Jew hatred is by the by. What is of concern is that much more of these moments will surely see the name of "Mossad" whispered, in viral fashion, on the internet. The seeds for a civil war are being planted, which may well necessitate a state of emergency to control it. Trump is running out of time if it is to happen under his watch. Added to his other seemingly 'seat of the pants' decision making and bombastic words and actions, most importantly with regards to Iran and friends, the next few months may be very definitive in where the world, and more especially Israel and world Jewry, finds themselves in the not too distant future.
I don't wish to detract from an otherwise excellent piece. However, while the jury may still be out on the exact origin of Covid-19, the escape from a Chinese laboratory, while appearing to be the favourite, but not to my knowledge, irrefutably proven, there is ample evidence to prove that the vaccines saved millions of lives. There is absolutely no comparison between the mortality rates of those using the vaccines compared with those that didn't. Whilst it is true that some people were adversely affected by using vaccines, this is unfortunately always the case. It is, however, a very small percentage. As to why Sweden did so well compared to everyone else is a very interesting study. They did initially experience a high rate of deaths, far worse than their immediate neighbours, Norway and Denmark. Perhaps that motivated them to follow the recommendations. Something like 80% of them complied with the recommended behavioural suggestions of their health agency. In Sweden, the government can't make it compulsory, but they voluntarily complied anyway. There was also a very aggressive vaccination policy that the Swedes bought into. Something like 50% of Swedes live alone. People could easily work from home, stay indoors when feeling sick and avoid public transport.

All stories of it saving lives are predicated on false/misinformation statistics. The fatality rate of covid was extremely low, basically everyone under 60 that was remotely healthy had no issues with it. Much like the way every year they just say 'that flu vaccine must have helped because I only had the flu for a few days!', the 'success' of the covid vaccines were predicated on misinformation and disinformation. For a solid 2-4 week period, covid seemed to greatly affect the 'already really sick' population, hastening many deaths.
Fortunately, the vast majority of the injected seemed to incur no damage. I do agree that we don't know the origins of it, and I'm skeptical that it escaped from any lab.
Extremely low in terms of what? Millions may be a drop in the ocean considering that the world population is now counted in billions. But that is still millions of needless lives that would have been lost but for the vaccine. Yes, it's impossible to say as it wasn't allowed to happen. I spent a weekend in Cape Town recently with my highly successful Rheumatologist cousin, working out of Miami, Dr Norman Gaylis. Look him up. A very accomplished specialist rheumatologist who did, and is still, treating long haul covid sufferers. I asked him to comment on Francisco's Covid articles as I've been very confused on the truth on this matter. He was very clear. He can't argue on the origin of the virus but there is no question on it's effect. He treated countless patients. Saw people die. No debate. The chances of dying if you didn't get vaccinated were far more likely than if you did. He further added that people knocking vaccinations across the board are creating a dangerous scenario. What Robert Kennedy is doing by his actions is very worrying. There has already been a spike in measles infections since people are now wary of being vaccinated.
my wife took care of covid patients. They existed. They were (overall) not previously healthy people. There is just no math that backs up the notion that the vaccine lessened the chance of dying. Tons and tons of people were diagnosed with covid (that entirely symptom free version of it) and they did not die. The medical/pharma community just fabricated entirely fake nonsense to make it sound like their shots saved lives. I've gotten a shingles vaccine, and the chicken pox vaccine does seem to prevent chicken pox. I don't lump them all together--but all of the stories/science that went into the covid shot were just absurd. The masking stuff was probably the most ridiculous (Ian Miller wrote the best book on that). Nothing regarding the covid narrative stands up to scrutiny.
